We see ourselves as more than a company making scrubs, but a part of a larger movement to protect the environment and build a sustainable future. But this isn’t something we can achieve alone.

Our journey began with friends in healthcare searching for an alternative to existing scrubs, prompting us to dig deeper. We believe meaningful change comes from collaboration, which is why we value the relationships we build with everyone—our users, designers, suppliers, and producers. These connections are the foundation of everything we create.

The name AO reflects our values: "aegis," symbolizing protection, and "oath," representing our promise to care for both people and the planet. To bring this promise to life, we relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles, home to America’s largest fashion ecosystem.

Los Angeles is more than a fashion hub—it’s where creativity and sustainability come together. Settling here has allowed us to connect with like-minded individuals, fostering hands-on collaboration that enables us to create thoughtfully made uniforms while reducing our environmental impact through minimized transportation and supporting the local economy.

By staying independent and avoiding outside investment, we remain focused on our mission: dressing healers while healing the planet. Every choice we make—from sourcing materials to production—is guided by this unwavering commitment.
